(Friendship, Ind.) – Thousands of people will gather in Friendship beginning this weekend. The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association’s annual spring shoot begins Saturday, June 10 and runs through Sunday, June 18. Each year, the NMLRA shoot attracts hundreds of participants for the shooting competitions in the quaint Laughery Creek community. The meet includes several shooting events, seminars, period music, blacksmiths and more. The popular Friendship Flea Market will bring thousands of visitors over the next week. Since its inception in 1968, the Flea Market has grown to include as many as 500 vendors, selling everything from crafts and clothing to artwork and jewelry. Due to the large number of expected visitors, the Indiana Department of Transportation says State Road 62 will be open during the NMLRA shoot. State Road 62 has been closed since late March due to a slide repair project just east of State Road 129 near Friendship. The Friendship Flea Market happens twice annually. The fall flea market is scheduled for September 7-19 during the NMLRA’s National Championship Shoot.
