Photo by Guy Rhodes. (Indianapolis, Ind.) - We're not quite at “start your engines,” but the countdown to the 100th Indianapolis 500 is underway. Friday marks 100 days until the iconic race, which will be run for the 100th time this year. The first Indianapolis 500 was actually more than 100 years ago in 1911, but the race took some time off during World War II. The 100th Indianapolis 500 will be held Sunday, May 29. You’ll hear it live on Eagle Country 99.3 and www.eaglecountryonline.com. To celebrate the 100 day countdown, Indianapolis Motor Speedway has placed an IndyCar in the Indiana Statehouse along with 100 bottles of milk. Drivers Helio Castroneves and Ed Carpenter are there, too.
