(Harrison, Oh.) - On September 15, 2015, JoAnn Wandsnider, fondly referred to as “JoMama,” will celebrate 30 years at Skyline Chili. Wandsnider has worked at the Harrison Skyline throughout her entire career and is deeply rooted in the community. As store manager, she donates her time and resources in numerous ways. Wandsnider and her Skyline team hand out awards to schools in the community every year to recognize students’ academic success with a free Cheese Coney and Pepsi. They also support William Henry Harrison High School through sponsored Skyline logos on the main basketball floor. In addition, Wandsnider supports Mrs. Montgomery’s Classes, a program for special needs children in the Southwest Local School District. Harrison Skyline not only treats these student-athletes with a complementary lunch after pep rallies, but also provides them with community work experiences in the restaurant. The restaurant collaborates with the city of Harrison’s D.A.R.E. programs to provide up to 400 Cheese Coneys to participating schools, thanking them for encouraging younger generations to make smart choices. If that’s not enough, Wandsnider and the Harrison Skyline provide support for members of the community, offering fundraising opportunities with free meal certificates, sponsoring various sports leagues and offering their location for charity events. After 30 years at Skyline, Wandsnider’s favorite part of her job remains the involvement in the close-knit Harrison community. “I went to school with a lot of folks who have their kids coming here now,” she said. “Kids go to college and come back in to work a few days over break because they love it so much.”
