(Boone County, Ky.) - The school buses aren't going to drive themselves. Bus drivers are needed in Boone County. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, administrators at Boone County Schools report that the school district needs about 30 new drivers. Superintendent Randy Poe said the new drivers are needed to substitute for regular drivers who call off work. However, the county's low unemployment rate of just 3.9 percent is making it difficult to find bus drivers. Boone County, the third-largest school district in the state, has up to 250 daily school bus routes. Poe said the shortage may be resulting in some students being dropped off at school and returned home later than usual. On another Boone County Schools note, the district will begin tweeting about school delays and cancellations this winter on the account @BCSWx. Paarents who signed up for telephone notifications about school changes will continue to receive those.
