Marvin Duerstock passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati on Tuesday, November 4. He was 74. Duerstock, of Guilford, served as the principal at South Dearborn High School from 1981 until 1998. His career earned him accolades such as being named a Distinguished Hoosier in 2007. He was inducted into the South Dearborn Academic and Career Hall of Fame in 2011. A local philanthropist after his retirement from the high school, Duerstock was a founder of South Dearborn Dollars for Scholars in 1991, served on the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, was once president of the Habitat for Humanity of Dearborn and Ohio Counties, and member of St. Mary’s Church Parish Council. Duerstock is survived by his wife, Sabra, and three sons, Scott, Greg, and Brad. His family is asking that memorial donations be made to South Dearborn Dollars for Scholars. Public visitation will take place Friday from 4:30 to 8:30 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. The funeral will happen Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
