By Travis Thayer (Batesville, Ind.) – One of the top basketball players in Batesville High School history is set to be enshrined in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Donna (Lamping) Hoeing will be among 11 women to be inducted to the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2017. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Indiana High School Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Lamping was a four-year starter at Batesville. Over the course of her high school career, Lamping recorded 1,553 points and 845 rebounds. She also set a single-game scoring record with 40 points. At the collegiate level, Lamping was a four-year letter winner at Ball State University from 1982-85. She ended her playing career at Ball State as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,104 points in 93 career games. Lamping is a two-time Academic All-American, Ball State’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1984-85, and was named to Ball State’s 1980 All-Decade Team. After college, Lamping returned to Batesville High School as a Math teacher and girls basketball coach. She served as an assistant from 1985-1991, and two terms as head coach from 1991-95 and 1999-2000. Lamping led the Lady Bulldogs to three sectional titles during her head coaching tenure. The Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Induction Class of 2017 will be honored on Saturday, April 29 at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame museum in New Castle.
