(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Main Street is pleased to announce that five new businesses have been selected to fill vacant downtown storefronts through its Pop Up Shop Program. 

"These are exciting times in downtown Lawrenceburg," said Main Street director Pat Krider. "These new retail businesses will offer a good mix of products and services and will make visiting downtown Lawrenceburg a whole new experience for locals and visitors alike."

Sacksteder's Interiors will move into the newly renovated White Chapel Hall at 9 Center Street.  With locations in New Trenton and O'Bryonville, Sacksteder's is well known in the region for its furniture, decorating services, home accessories, signature silk floral designs and more recently women's accessories.  With more than 25 years of experience, Karen Sacksteder has developed a reputation for affordable in home design services.

Edgewood Designs is a unique shopping experience offering great looking women's apparel including jackets, sweaters, tops and FDJ Jeans, accessories including Vera Bradley, beauty products from Crabtree and Evelyn, jewelry, gifts and home decor items.  Nancy Miles has built a very successful business in Harrison based on exceptional customer service, quality, value and variety. She now brings that record of success to Lawrenceburg.  Look for Edgewood Designs at 118 Walnut Street, the former Curves location.

In response to the many people who have been asking for a bakery in downtown Lawrenceburg, DJ's Bakery will be bringing their wide variety of doughnuts, pastries, fritters, muffins, bread, pies, cakes to satisfy that need.  Building on their success in Bright, Donna and Jeff Hester have been anticipating a move to Lawrenceburg for several months, and now they will find a home at 221 Walnut Street.

Eventful, a full service wedding and event planning service will fill a newly renovated storefront at 231 Walnut Street in the Liberty Theater building.  In addition to services, owner Whitney Settles will also offer consignment bridal gowns, bridal party and prom dresses, as well as formal wear rental, linen and table decoration rentals, custom announcements and bridal party gifts.  Just as she did in Madison, Whitney will also join efforts with other related local businesses such as tent rentals, photographers, bakeries and florists to insure that each client's unique needs are met.

Hidden Treasures Gift Shop will be found at 134 Walnut Street.  The shop specializes in gifts for all ages.  They will stock toys and books for children, gifts, jewelry, candy, holiday items, chimes, purses, decorative plateware, cigars, humidors, college and professional memorabilia, and so much more.  Lisa Weinmann and Al Schrand have been selling at corporate events, schools, fundraisers, college shows and hospitals, and in response to their customers who wanted them to "have a storefront location", they are coming to Lawrenceburg.

"The Main Street Strategic Planning Committee devoted a great deal of time to evaluating the 16 applications submitted, and the choices were difficult, but in the end we are very pleased with the results," said Krider. "The Committee focused on the applicants' business experience and potential for success, passion and enthusiasm, professionalism, high level of quality in their products and services, and interest in remaining beyond the 3 month Pop Up Program timeframe.  Compatibility with other downtown businesses and with the community in general was also a consideration."

"The Committee has done its job, and we have been fortunate to have the cooperation of several City departments and the landlords who have been generous in their negotiations.  Now it's the community's turn to patronize and support these businesses so that they become a permanent part of the downtown and serve as a base to attract additional businesses in the future.  Our anticipated Grand Opening date for the shops is October 11th and we invite everyone to come and check out these new additions to our downtown."
