Franklin Co. Gets New Auditor, Hopefully Less Drama

(Brookville, Ind.) - A new county auditor is in place in Franklin County after the former auditor resigned earlier this month.

Steve Brack was picked by a Republican caucus as the new auditor on December 22.  Brack, 63, is a recently retired banker, the Franklin County Observer reports.

County leaders and residents hope Brack’s time in office is less eventful that former auditor Erica Hudson.

She caused a fine for $4,000 against the county when she failed to show up for work for a few months this past summer. A letter from the IRS had sat unopened on her desk and the county missed a deadline to respond.

Hudson cited medical issues for her absence.

In another episode, Hudson hired a new part-time employee in the Auditor’s Office. Chadwick Sexton was arrested on a warrant out of Knox County, Indiana just a day after beginning the job. He was taken into custody at Hudson’s Brookville apartment.

County Commissioners had requested Hudson’s resignation from the position on multiple occasions.
