East Central's run in the girls basketball state tournament comes to an end in the final 8. Jac-Cen-Del's season ended in the Sweet 16. And a few local wrestlers punch their tickets to State.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14

BOYS BASKETBALL

South Ripley 55, South Dearborn 45 - Eagle Country 99.3 Feature Game - South Ripley came out hot, leading the contest 20-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders would extend their first half lead to 20 points. Despite 20 turnovers, South Dearborn battled back in the second half and cut the South Ripley lead to five points. In the end, Bryce Franklin (20 points) and Cody Samples (16 points) were too much for the Knights. South Dearborn was led by Alex Shackelford with 13 points.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15

BOYS BASKETBALL

East Central 67, Batesville 65 - East Central snaps Batesville's seven-game winning streak and remains in 2nd place in the EIAC standings at 5-1. 

Lawrenceburg 56, Rising Sun 31 - Ten different players scored as the Tigers picked up their third-straight win. Garrett Yoon led all scorers with 15 points. Gavin Yoon added 13 points and Kamar Chenault, Dayha Patel and Jackson Bobo had six points each for the Tigers. Rising Sun was led by T.J. Manifold with nine points.

Franklin County 58, Switzerland County 56

Christian Academy 58, Oldenburg Academy 36

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Class 4A Regional at Columbus North 

Semi-finals: East Central 50, Franklin Central 42 

Regional Championship: Bedford North Lawrence 54, East Central 48 - The Lady Trojans end their season with the most wins in school history (23-6) and a sectional championship. 

 

Class 1A Regional at Southwestern (Shelbyville)

Greenwood Christian 61, Jac-Cen-Del 49 - The Lady Eagles finish the season at 21-5. 

GIRLS SWIMMING

IHSAA Swimming & Diving State Championship

East Central's Kyra Hall placed 12th in the 100m backstroke

 

WRESTLING

Semi-state at New Castle

East Central finished 7th in the team rankings with 48 points. Bryer Hall finished 2nd in at 152 pounds. His teammate, Kole Viel placed 4th in the 182 pound tournament. Both will move on to State. Lawrenceburg's Andrew Roth is also heading to State after finishing 2nd at 160 pounds.
