By Mike Perleberg (Dearborn County, Ind.) – Area realtors are stepping up to keep local kids’ bellies full. The Southeast Indiana Board of Realtors is holding a donation drive for the Dearborn County Clearinghouse Sacks of Snacks program. Sacks of Snacks was created by principals at Aurora Elementary School in 2014. The program sends students home with a bag of simple foods each Friday afternoon or heading into a long break. It has expanded from a few students at Aurora Elementary to now more than 400 students in five Dearborn County schools. SEIBR’s Community Service Committee is accepting ongoing donations for Sacks of Snacks at its office at 218 Fourth Street in Aurora during business hours 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Food items needed include:
Fruit/Applesauce Cups
Pudding Cups
Cans of Pork & Beans
Cans of Vegetables
Ramen Noodles
Peanut Butter Crackers
Fruit Snacks
Jars of Peanut Butter
Small bags of Pasta
Small cans of Pasta Sauce
Individually wrapped crackers
Individual bags of Sun Chips
Mac & Cheese
