SEIBR Supporting "Sacks Of Snacks" Program

By Mike Perleberg (Dearborn County, Ind.) – Area realtors are stepping up to keep local kids’ bellies full. The Southeast Indiana Board of Realtors is holding a donation drive for the Dearborn County Clearinghouse Sacks of Snacks program. Sacks of Snacks was created by principals at Aurora Elementary School in 2014. The program sends students home with a bag of simple foods each Friday afternoon or heading into a long break.  It has expanded from a few students at Aurora Elementary to now more than 400 students in five Dearborn County schools. SEIBR’s Community Service Committee is accepting ongoing donations for Sacks of Snacks at its office at 218 Fourth Street in Aurora during business hours 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Food items needed include:

Fruit/Applesauce Cups

Pudding Cups

Cans of Pork & Beans

Cans of Vegetables

Ramen Noodles

Peanut Butter Crackers

Fruit Snacks

Jars of Peanut Butter

Small bags of Pasta

Small cans of Pasta Sauce

Individually wrapped crackers

Individual bags of Sun Chips

Mac & Cheese

Monetary donations are also accepted. Those will go towards the purchase of other food items that the Clearinghouse purchases for a more reduced price. RELATED STORIES: Dearborn Co. Clearinghouse, Schools Team Up To Stop Hunger
