(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Wednesday night’s debate between Senator Richard Lugar and Tea Party-backed challenger Richard Mourdock was a tie according to many.
But, Lugar won some big endorsements following the debate. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Indiana Manufacturer’s Association both endorsed the longtime senator Thursday.
An e-mail from Lugar’s campaign Thursday also stated the senator had a perfect 100 percent rating from both the U. S. Chamber of Commerce and Indiana Chamber in 2011.
Meanwhile, Mourdock topped Lugar in fundraising in 2012’s first quarter. Mourdock, the Indiana State Treasurer, raised $875,000 while Lugar banked $317,000.
The tale of who has the bigger warchest favors Lugar, who had $2.5 million cash on hand at the end of the quarter. Mourdock had $430,000 remaining.
Mourdock said donations were made to his campaign by 5,700 donors.
