Submitted by Carrie Keyes (mother) : Daulton, son of Andrew and Carrie Keyes of Holton, shot his nine point buck in Ripley County. The nine-year-old had decided to go hunting on Thanksgiving Day with his 20 gauge which ended up to be his lucky day. He had spent many hours in the stand and had realized it just takes time. Daulton stated "You don't always have to shoot a deer to have a good hunt, and I guess it was just my lucky day to get the Big One!"

Dubbed "Blade," the buck had began showing up on Miller Farms at the end of the 2011 hunting season. From a tree stand, Miller used his Bowtech Invasion to harvest the buck from 40 yards, as he was chasing a doe in a clover field.

Submitted by Nicole West: My FIRST buck ever! Taken November 18 near dusk. This was the 1st time I was alone in the woods. I got a nice doe the day before, but was hunting with my dad. This time I was on my own. I was in my stand only about 30min when he walked by. I took only one shot! My boyfriend (Jeff Caudill) is a bit jealous – he did get a doe the next day, but not as nice as my buck. This one is going on the mantle!

NOVEMBER 28
I'm Taylor Johnson and this is my first year bow hunting. It was Sunday, October 28. Early in the morning I was walking into my stand and as I went up the hill I saw this buck take off so I climbed up in my stand and looked round the edge of the tree only to see this 7 point buck standing about 50 yards away. I sprayed a lil doe pee. Got my mask all situated and waited. After 15 to 20 mins of watching this deer he finally came into me. After I saw he had a nice rack I decided he was the one so he then came in about ten yards away I pulled my bow back and let one rip right into him. He took off running about 40 yds and dropped dead. Pretty good for my first buck ever in lil old Aurora, Indiana.

NOVEMBER 19
Submitted by Jason Spaulding: The first run in with this buck in Pendleton County, Kentucky was last year in September bow season when I finally asked the owner of a big farm to hunt and surprisingly he said "yes." So I hung a couple stands and seen ton of bucks and this one came in one time and was able to draw on him but no shot was able to be made. Weeks went by and not able to run into him again the farm was suddenly up for auction. I wasn't worried too much because I hunt the neighboring farms that join my place. The people that bought it wouldn't let me hunt so I was hoping he would make it my way! Friend of my friend was allowed to hunt that farm this year and showed me tons of footage of him and pics. He has grown probably 20 more inches since last year. Them guys were hunting him hard and all I seen was the other bucks (nice ones) but I knew he hasn't been killed yet so I kept waiting out. Gun season came November 9 in Kentucky. So I tried something different. I woke up an hour early and instead of taking quad back 1/2 mile to hunting area I walked so they didn't hear me. Sit till 10 and seen one doe then left and went further to my other set and seen a 6 pt and one doe. Noon time I headed back home and took my time incase I jumped one up but seen nothing. Its 1pm and I was coming up to my fence behind my house (wich is only 6 acres) and just checking the wire and looked over 265 yrds to other side and seen a head looking at me laying there next to fence ...I drew my gun up to see how big he was and that's when my heart and chest was about to expload. I shot him laying there. He stood up on his back legs and crashed into fence and expired on the spot. Then a big mature doe stood up and looked at me funny so I laid her out as well! It was a dream come true to get my hands on the buck that I had been hoping for for 2 years. Still can't believe it! Snd what makes it more exciting is it was on my own little 6 acre piece of land! He scored 163 1/8. 8 pointer.

NOVEMBER 14
Submitted by Brandy Nelson: Saturday, opening day of gun, was my first hunt ever! My husband had been videoing/tracking this huge, tall 8-pointer since August (who turned out to be a 9 pt due to a kicker!). Opening day of muzzle loader season he killed a big 10 pointer, but still kept seeing this massive 8 which he has been obsessed with. Net - he bought me a hunting license, and last Tuesday made me practice shooting his 270 (first time ever shooting with a scope). This guy came in quick after a doe and hubby had to grunt to make him stop so I could get a shot. I had never experienced that rush before, and my husband said it was normal that afterwards I kept second-guessing my shot. Turns out I put the perfect shot on and my husband has never been so proud! One of the G2s is almost 12 inches long!
