Update On Police Shooting
Posted at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 5, 2009 by Mike Perleberg
(Greensburg, IN) - A robbery suspect involved in a shootout with police on Tuesday night is still hospitalized.

Dustin W. Wise, 27, of Fortville, Ind., led police on a chase from Interstate 74 to State Road 3 near Greensburg when officers spotted his vehicle, which matched the description of the getaway car at armed convenience store robberies in Lawrenceburg and Batesville earlier in the evening.

When Wise pulled over a couple miles off the interstate with three police cars trailing, gunshots rang out from the car. Two Indiana State Police troopers and a Greensburg Police officer then returned fire.

Wise was aircared to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he remained in critical condition as of Wednesday evening according to ISP Sgt. Noel Houze.

None of the officers were hurt in the exchange of fire.

Houze said there is very little additional information in regards to the shootout at this time, including whether Wise's wounds were from bullets fired by the officers or his own gun.

Investigators obtained a search warrant on Wednesday afternoon for Wise's vehicle which is currently being processed for evidence.
