Semi, Train Collide In Boone Co. Posted at 7:49 am on Thursday, November 5, 2009 by Mike Perleberg (Richwood, KY) - Muffins anybody? It was a big mess in Richwood on Wednesday afternoon when a train hit a semi trailer carrying a load of muffin batter. The big collision happened around 3:05 at the railroad crossing on Shoreland Drive near Dixie Highway when the semi was stopped at the intersection with the back end of its trailer blocking the tracks. An oncoming Norfolk Southern train ripped through the trailer. The truck driver, 40-year-old Babic Smail, of Iowa, was not injured. Zis Transport out of Independence, Ky. owned the truck.
