Elderly Resident Displaced By House Fire Posted at 7:11 am on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 by Mike Perleberg (Sunman, IN) - A home in Sunman went up in flames on Sunday, leaving an elderly man without a home. The blaze was reported just before 9:00 a.m. at 13654 Tangman Road in Dearborn County. The home was mostly consumed by flames when firefighters arrived. They stayed on the scene extinguishing the blaze until about 5:00 p.m. Resident Fred McKenzie was home at the time of the fire, but made it out safely. However, his house is considered a complete loss. He is now being assisted by the Dearborn and Ohio County Red Cross. Investigators believe the fire was sparked when a lamp fell onto a matress.
