(Dillsboro, Ind.) – Happily ever after may have to wait for one man who suffered a gunshot just hours after being married.
Dearborn County deputies were dispatched to the home of Doug Powell on the 9600 block of Jewett Road at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Powell, 40, had suffered a gunshot to the head.
Sheriff’s office detective Garland Bridges tells Eagle 99.3 that Powell had just gotten married the night before he was shot.
Bridges said he has spoken with Powell as well as others but it remains unclear if the gunshot was self-inflicted or from another person. Physical evidence from the scene is being analyzed by the Indiana State Police Crime Lab.
No arrests have been made.
Powell continues to recover at University Hospital in Cincinnati as of Tuesday. Bridges said he had taken a turn for the worse, but has been stabilized.
