(Indianapolis, Ind.) - State Senator Jean Leising is planning legislation to create the Indiana Brain Injury Study Commission.
Lawmakers heard recently about Indiana residents who have to travel to get the care they need and about how much the care costs.
So far this year, state and federal money has gone over $11 million spent to care for traumatic brain injury patients from Indiana in other states.
Leising (R-Oldenburg) said it's vital for those suffering the injuries to be able to get long-term care close to home.
The senator wants the Department of Health to adopt rules establishing licensing categories for Indiana TBI service providers by July 1, 2013.
