(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn County may threaten to fine organizations or individuals who set up charity road blocks.
County attorney Jack Gay has been looking into the issue for the past few months. On Wednesday, Gay presented an ordinance banning the road block fundraisers to county commissioners.
The road blocks have been a particular problem in the Bright area and the county is worried about safety issues. The county could be held liable if there were to be an accident.
All three commissioners voiced support and voted for the ban. It would fine organizations or individuals $100 on a first offense with higher fines for subsequent offenses.
The ordinance will be drafted by Gay and could be signed later this month.
