(Versailles, Ind.) - A teacher at South Ripley Schools has resigned after allegations he sent inappropriate e-mails to a student.
Ed Newman was the senior class sponsor at South Ripley High School. He handed in his resignation to the school board at a special meeting Oct. 25.
Newman’s resignation will be effective Nov. 15 according to Superintendent John Mehrle. He had been suspended with pay since he sent the questionable message or messages to a female student.
Indiana State Police said this week it’s unlikely Newman will face any criminal charges for the e-mail exchange based on their investigation.
