(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Unlike many voters in southeast Indiana on Election Day, Ohio County voters showed more of a willingness to vote for either party.
Republicans still took the county sheriff’s race with Eldon Fancher earning another four years in a 65.6 percent to 34.4 percent defeat of Arron Smith, Jr.
However, Democrat District 1 County Commissioner candidate Todd Ray Walton claimed victory over Republican Doug Hannan 55 to 45 percent.
The District 3 Council seat went to a Republican, Donnie Grace, who defeated George Kittle 55 to 45 percent.
The coroner race was close as well but still went the way of the GOP. Gary Eldridge defeated Heidi Lamkin 55 to 45 percent.
In the two-out-of-three Ohio County School Board District 4 race Corey Potts (44 percent) and Michael Hussong (31) defeated Felix Massey III (25).
