Stacey Lee Johnson, 32, was arrested Thursday on four counts of Child Seduction, a Class D felony.
Eagle 99.3 broke the story.
According to a court affidavit, the relationship began in late June or early July when Johnson was alone with the 16-year-old at Greendale Middle School.
The girl's parents learned of the relationship following a high school football game Oct. 22 when they were approached by another parent of their daughter's friend who said she had seen text messages indicating Johnson was more than a teacher.
The student told investigators she estimated the two had sexual intercourse between 10 and 15 times. Johnson said some of the encounters did occur at school.
School officials went to Lawrenceburg Police with the allegations after hearing from the student’s parents.
Johnson was hired earlier this year by Lawrenceburg Community Schools as a choir teacher at Greendale Middle School.
Lawrenceburg Schools Superintendent Karl Galey said Johnson turned in his resignation on Monday.
“The only comment was that he apologized for the black eye this may cause the school corporation,” Galey said Thursday.
Johnson is currently held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on $2,500 cash and $25,000 surety bond.
Galey says the district is being sensitive to the situation for students’ sake.
“The school corporation is saddened but definitely want to be involved in any help that we can provide family and other students dealing with the situation,” Galey said.
