(Greendale, Ind.) – Many residents in the area of Greendale, Hidden Valley, and Bright took cover when the strongest part of Tuesday’s storm hit.

At around 12:04, there were tense moments for some drivers on State Road 1 as a tornado reportedly touched down.

According to a preliminary storm report from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, a Greendale Police officer witnessed a weak tornado moving across the highway near Georgetown and Salt Fork Roads.

The funnel was reportedly on the ground for three to four seconds and was approximately 20 30 feet in diameter.

Luckily, the tornado touched down in an open field and no damage was reported.

Around the same time some rotation was observed by a trained weather spotter in Bright. Tree limbs were knocked down.  That report will be investigated by the National Weather Service.
