(Aurora, Ind.) – The cause of a garage fire which led to a number of other blazes in an Aurora field is still under investigation.

That fire which started in a garage at 4924 East Laughery Creek Road on Sunday afternoon spread to nearby fields and started several other fires. Firefighters said several acres would burn.

The Aurora Fire Department said Wednesday that the Indiana State Fire Marshal is assisting with the investigation.

Three Aurora firefighters suffered minor injuries battling those fires, but have since returned to duty.

Fire crews spent Monday and Tuesday monitoring hot spots in those fields. Four re-kindles were extinguished without incident.
