(Rising Sun, Ind.) - An Ohio County company is expanding, and perhaps bringing much-needed jobs to the area.
OMI Industries will break ground Friday morning on a $1.2 million dollar expansion at its production facility in the Barbour Business Park, where they’ve been located since 2008.
The move will allow the deodorant product producer to double its current employment of 20 people over the next few years.
"OMI is finding a way to grow in the midst of tough economic times and they're doing it here in Ohio County, Indiana," said Lane Siekman, Executive Director of the Ohio County Economic Development Corporation. "We appreciate the new jobs and investment they are committing to Ohio County."
The Ohio County Economic Development Corporation has offered OMI a low-cost loan and other incentives to help the expansion along. More incentives such as a property tax abatement will be considered by the Ohio County Council.
OMI Industries is a privately-held corporation founded in 1989 comprised of industrial, commercial, and consumer divisions. Its corporate headquarters are located near Chicago. They have other facilities in Texas and California.
