Hamilton County Sheriff

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - The pregnant woman who used her young children to help her break into numerous homes in the Harrison area has been sent to prison.

Samantha Brewer was sentenced to four years behind bars by a Hamilton County judge Tuesday. She previously pleaded guilty in June to charges of burglary, attempted burglary, and child endangerment.

Brewer, 26, said she committed the 18 or so burglaries to fuel her addiction to painkillers.

She was nearly nine months pregnant when arrested last May. She would give birth to a baby girl just days later while in jail.

Brewer told investigators that she had even used her five-year-old son to gain entry to a home, lifting him through a window. He would then unlock a door so she could get in.

The married mother of three was let off lightly when considering she was facing a maximum sentence of 97 years in prison. She could be out early on a drug rehabilitation program if given credit for good behavior.
