UPDATED: Blue-Eyed Rapist May Plea

David Hopper, the so-called "Blue-Eyed Rapist," may be preparing to plead guilty to attacking a woman in Dearborn County.

 

The Dearborn County Prosecutor's officew says David Hopper has agreed to a plea hearing on Oct. 18 in Dearborn Circuit Court. Details of any sort of plea agreement have not been released.

 

Hopper faces charges of Criminal Deviate Conduct, Attempt to Commit Rape, Robbery, Criminal Confinement with a Deadly Weapon, and Sexual Battery - all felonies carrying a total maximum of 118 years in prison.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A rape trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Dearborn County.

David Hopper, also known as the Blue-Eyed Rapist, will go to a jury trial in Dearborn Circuit Court as the jury selection process commences in the morning.

 

Hopper, 46, is accused of attacking an 18-year-old woman at gunpoint at the Payless Shoe Store in Aurora in 2004.

 

The former Burlington, Ky. resident could be sentenced up to 118 years if convicted on all felony charges including Criminal Deviate Conduct, Attempt to Commit Rape, Robbery, Criminal Confinement with a Deadly Weapon, and Sexual Battery.

 

Hopper is already serving prison sentences for attacks in Ohio and Kentucky dating back to 1992. He was first arrested when investigators used DNA evidence to connect him to an attack on two women in Warren County, Ohio in 2006.

 

He was extradited to Dearborn County for trial last July.
