(Vevay, Ind.) - A local teacher has been named one of the best you’ll find at any school in rural Indiana.
Bonnie Fancher teaches science at Switzerland County High School. The Indiana Small and Rural Schools Association has named her their 2010-2011 Indiana Teacher of the Year.
Fancher will receive $1,000 from the Indiana Farm Bureau for the honor.
Fancher is noted for allowing students to participate in water testing as part of the Indian Creek Watershed Project in addition to the long hours she puts in and help she provides to students and fellow teachers.
The 31-year Switzerland County High School veteran teacher was the second runner-up for National Teacher of the year by the National Rural Education Association.
