(Aurora, Ind.) - One of southeast Indiana’s biggest and longest-running festivals gets underway Wednesday.

The 102nd Annual Aurora Farmers Fair will open with rides from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. Main stage entertainment will be performances by show choirs from South Dearborn, Lawrenceburg, and South Ripley high schools starting at 6:30 p.m.
At 9:30, the 2010 fair king and queen will be crowned on the main stage.
“It’s a lot of excitement for kids around the area and different high schools,” said Roger Fehlen, Aurora Lions Club member.
The Aurora Lions Club organizes the fair each year. This year’s celebration of the harvest season will pay tribute to the Boy Scouts of America with the theme “Celebrating a Century of Boy Scouting.”
Events on Thursday include the World War II and Grand Marshal presentations on the main stage at 5:30 followed by live music from The Hoppers and Triumphant Quartet beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Friday entertainment includes local musical talent Jet Set on stage at noon along with performances by South Dearborn High School cheerleaders and the South Dearborn Middle School Show Choir. The popular pet parade begins at 2:00. Babies will crawl across the second stage at the fair for the United Community Bank Diaper Derby at 4:00 p.m. Ooh La La & The Greasers will take the main stage at 6:30, while Kristine Spielmann & The Skallywags perform on stage two. At 8:00 the Van Dells perform on the main stage.
On Saturday, the massive parade – usually in excess of two hours – will wind through the downtown Aurora streets beginning at 9:30 a.m. All-day unlimited ride wristbands can be purchased for $15. Saturday night feature entertainment includes county star Jason Michael Carroll performing on the main stage at 8:30 p.m. Local group Ridge Runner will serve as his opening act at 6:30 p.m.
