Press release from the Dearborn Community Foundation
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc., (DCF) is accepting nominations for the prestigious Heart of Gold Awards that recognize folks in the Dearborn County community who touch the hearts of others through their volunteerism and other acts of kindness.
Anyone who gives of themselves unselfishly to serve others, collectively or individually, with volunteer acts above and beyond their profession is eligible to be nominated, said Fred McCarter, DCF Executive Director. “This is a great opportunity to recognize volunteers that make a difference in our community and at the same time encourage philanthropy,” he said.
A DCF selection committee will choose Heart of Gold recipients from the nominations received by October 6, 2010. Each Heart of Gold recipient will be recognized at a reception in November. These honorees will have the privilege of helping to award a total of $2,500 in grants to eligible non-profit organizations in Dearborn County.
Heart of Gold recipients have been recognized for helping senior citizens or disadvantaged persons, working to improve the quality of education, expanding recreational or cultural opportunities, working with children, protecting the environment, promoting public safety and unusual acts of kindness.
Heart of Gold nomination forms are available at the Foundation office located at 322 Walnut Street in Lawrenceburg and at all public libraries in Dearborn County and the DCF website: www.dearborncf.org. Complete nomination forms should be submitted to the Foundation before October 6, 2010. For more information about the Heart of Gold Awards, please call the Foundation at 812-539-4115.
