Andrew Conley, now 18, faces life in prison as proceedings in his murder trial begin this week. |
The Rising Sun teenager is accused of murdering his 10-year-old brother Conner in their home last Nov. 28. Conley choked the boy for close to 20 minutes and covered his head with a plastic bag before dumping the body in a wooded area near the city park.
As many as 50 jurors per day are expected to be interviewed at the Ohio County Courthouse. Once a jury has been seated, the trial could run for another two weeks, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard plans to seek life in prison without parole for the teen he once referred to as an “evil child.”
Conley’s defense is expected to put up an insanity argument.
Now 18-years-old, Conley is not eligible for the death penalty because he was only 17 when the crime was allegedly committed.
