(Laurel, Ind.) - It’s a sad week for students at Franklin County High School after the sudden passing of a fellow classmate.

Christopher “Kitt” Schirmer, 15, died on Monday at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital from injuries he suffered in a dirt bike crash.

Schirmer, a sophomore from Laurel, was riding at Haspin Acres Off-Road Park in western Franklin County when he crashed his bike. It landed on top of him, causing what would become fatal head and chest injuries.

Friends and family are invited to Shirmer’s visitation Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville.

Schirmer will be laid to rest Friday with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church in Connersville where he was a member of the youth group.

The teen was an active member of the Boy Scouts. His family asks that memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts Troop #45.
