(Aurora, Ind.) - Some residents living along State Road 148-Sunnyside Avenue in Aurora won’t be able to park on the street any longer.
Parking on State Road 148-Sunnyside Avenue
in Aurora has been a traffic concern for both
drivers and city leaders in recent years.
The Indiana Department of Transportation said Monday that “No Parking” signs will be placed along the narrow stretch of road beginning Sept. 6
INDOT said the decision was made after numerous complaints from citizens. Engineers investigated and found that the parked vehicles which often stick out into traffic are a safety concern. School busses have an especially difficult time passing through the street safely, noted INDOT.
Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings and City Council have both been made aware of the situation according to INDOT.
INDOT said enforcement of the parking ban will be handled by law enforcement agencies which have also been contacted about the change.
