(Burlington, Ky.) - A standoff in Boone County came to a peaceful end Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers had gone to a home on the 8800 block  of East Bend Road in Burlington around 2:05 about the possibility of marijuana being grown there, said sheriff’s office spokesperson Tom Scheben.

That’s when a woman answered the door and told officers that a man inside the house was threatening to take his own life.

Brian Marrone, 36, of Burlington, surrendered after more than an hour barricaded in the home.  Charges are likely said investigators.

East Bend Road had to be shut down during the standoff.
