(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Police in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky are participating in a massive drunk driving crackdown for the Labor Day holiday period.
Dearborn County law enforcement agencies will join more than 250 others in the “Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest” effort from Aug. 20 through Sept. 12. The Indiana State Police are also part of the blitz.
Officers, deputies and troopers will participate in high-visibility saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and other activities designed to deter impaired driving.
Indiana State Troopers at the ISP Versailles Post are planning a sobriety checkpoint Aug. 26 from midnight to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Dearborn County.
During 2009 in Indiana there were 8,855 drunk driving-related crashes involving passenger vehicles and another 202 involving motorcycles.
Of those crashes, 168 people were killed.
