(Rising Sun, Ind.) – A power outage is being planned for the entire city of Rising Sun Saturday morning.
From 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., power will be cut as crews with Rising Sun Municipal Utilities work to repair a substation.
Utility Superintendent Marty Dennis says the substation was damaged Thursday when a bird flew into the substation causing fuses of a high-voltage line to blow out. The bird was killed and much of the surrounding area was left without power the rest of the day.
Just a week prior to Thursday’s outage, the utility department had to make repairs after a squirrel made its way into the substation. It also was subsequently killed after causing an outage.
The utility company apologizes for any inconvenience the outage may cause.
