Woman Pleads To Stealing From Volunteer Fire Dept.

week to stealing money from the

Moores Hill-Sparta Township

Volunteer Fire Department.

Dearborn County Sheriff's Office

(Moores Hill, Ind.) - A woman will do hard time and may be ordered to pay back the money she stole from a local volunteer fire department.

 

On Tuesday, Gladys Marie Curlin pleaded guilty to stealing $163,000 dollars from the Moores Hill-Sparta Township Fire Department.

 

She was charged with Theft in May 2009. According to court documents, Curlin, 39, wrote more than 170 checks and made other transactions while treasurer of the volunteer department between 2004 and 2008.

 

The plea agreement reached this week includes 185 days in jail, then another half-year on work release followed by one year in a home incarceration program.

 

Curlin may be ordered to pay restitution during sentencing before Judge James Humphrey in Dearborn Circuit Court in October.
