(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A Dillsboro couple is charged with growing marijuana out in plain view.
Jennifer Leigh Ramsey, 32, is in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, and two counts of Neglect of a Dependant.
A warrant has been issued for Ramsey’s live-in boyfriend Richard Hornsby.
According to a court affidavit, on July 19 two Dillsboro Police officers spotted a marijuana plant growing on the balcony outside the couple’s unit at Maple Glen Apartments.
The officers immediately went to the apartment and spoke with Ramsey and Hornsby. Inside they allegedly discovered an ashtray containing marijuana seeds and stems.
The couple reportedly told police that they do smoke marijuana inside the apartment in which Ramsey’s two seven-year-old children also live.
Hornsby told the officers that he took the marijuana plant from the balcony and flushed it down the toilet before the officers knocked at their door.
Ramsey is held on $1,500 cash and $5,000 surety bond as of Friday.
