Ripley County Sheriff's Office
(Osgood, Ind.) - One suspect is in jail and a second is at-large after Ripley County police bust up a burglary at a local co-op.
On September 30, deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle report at the Laughery Valley Ag Co-Op in Osgood. Police soon located that vehicle. During an ensuing traffic stop, the passenger fled on foot and escaped.
The driver, Brian Burton, 24, of Edinburgh, Indiana, was arrested. He’s charged with Illegal Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Theft.
At the time of the traffic stop, deputies located multiple modified tanks in and around the vehicle which contained amounts of anhydrous ammonia. There was information gained at that time giving officers reason to believe the anhydrous had been taken from the co-op.
The escaped passenger is believed to be Brandon Jacobs, 23, of Nashville, Indiana. Investigators call him a person of interest. Jacobs had an active arrest warrant out of Bartholomew County for a probation violation.
If you know Jacobs’ whereabouts or have more information on the case, call the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office or Indiana State Police.
