(Batesville, Ind.) - A semi crash on Interstate 74 resulted in minor injuries to the driver and a stop to traffic for about an hour Friday afternoon, September 27.
Indiana State Police troopers say a 2005 Kenworth semi tractor-trailer rig driven by Harold L. Downey, 69, of Middletown, Ohio, was eastbound on I-74 near the 153 mile marker when for unknown reasons he lost control of the vehicle at about 4:40 p.m.
The truck went into the median and struck the barrier cable, however, the rig still managed to cross into the westbound lanes completely blocking westbound I-74.
Downey suffered minor facial injuries and was transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
Westbound I-74 was closed for over an hour while emergency crews and wreckers removed the semi. Eastbound I-74 was limited to one lane and closed for short periods of time as well.
Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by Batesville Police and Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies.
