The Collier Ridge Bridge near Guilford is closed because of a structural failure which occured last Spring. The Bright Beacon |
The iron structure near the intersection of Collier Ridge and Bonnell roads in Guilford suffered a major structural failure when a support cracked this past spring. It has been closed to traffic with a barricade of stone walls since, leaving residents in the area to detour several miles around to get to State Road 1.
Commissioners have been trying to decide whether to realign the road leading up to the more than 100-year-old bridge. They will be at the site on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 10:00 a.m.
Dearborn County has already secured $1 million in funding from the Indiana Department of Transportation to replace the bridge.
