A semi trailer caught fire on Interstate 71 near Walton Thursday morning.

(Walton, Ky.) - A semi hauling animal fat caught fire shutting down a portion of Interstate 71 Thursday morning.
The fire was reported just South of the I-71/75 split in Walton at about 9:30 a.m. WLWT-TV reports the driver noticed the rear of the trailer was on fire. The driver detached the trailer from the truck and pulled away a safe distance.
The trailer was reported to be carrying powdered animal fat.
Northbound I-71 has since reopened to traffic.
