Boone County Jail
(Union, Ky.) - A Union resident is accused of threatening to kill a local lawmaker.
Kurt J. Lowe, 47, is in jail charged with third-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree fleeing or evading police, the Kentucky Enquirer reports.
Boone County Sheriff’s detectives say Lowe threatened the life of Kentucky State Senator John Schickel, who also lives in Union. When police went to arrest Lowe on a warrant Sunday, he allegedly led them on a high speed chase through a residential neighborhood.
Lowe had filed a complaint against Schickel with the state ethics committee, the newspaper reported. However, the complaint did not result in any evidence supporting Lowe’s allegations.
That’s when police allege Lowe responded with a letter stating “I’ll just have to kill the (man).” The ethics investigator then shared the message with Schickle, who reported the threat to police.
Lowe is held in the Boone County Jail on a $75,000 bond, pending a preliminary hearing on Monday in Boone District Court.
