(West Harrison, Ind.) - Changes are being proposed to land planned for economic development in northeastern Dearborn County.
On Monday, the Dearborn County Plan Commission will hold a special meeting to review a proposed amendment to the plan associated with the West Harrison TIF (Tax Increment Financing) District, located just off Interstate 74 exit 169. The commission’s special meeting will be followed immediately by the Dearborn County Commissioners.
Director of Planning and Zoning Mark McCormack says the Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission wants to re-start the collection of tax increment at year zero, in essence extending the collection period for taxes.
“According to information received by the Plan Commission office on a preliminary basis, the size of the existing TIF district would not change. The only noticeable difference should be the time period associated with the tax increment,” McCormack said in an email.
Monday’s Dearborn County Plan Commission public meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the County Administration Building, 215B West High Street, in Lawrenceburg. McCormack said interested persons are requested to appear and voice their opinion.
Dearborn County Commissioners will meet afterwards in the same room. That meeting to discuss and review the proposed amendment to the West Harrison TIF District begins at 7:30 p.m.
