(Taylorsport, Ky.) - Boone County authorities want to know why a man drove his car into the Ohio River Wednesday evening.
The car crashed into the water at about 7:15 p.m. off Kentucky Highway 8 in Taylorsport after traveling at high speeds. Police say the man was able to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore.
Water rescue crews with Boone and Dearborn counties as well as the Hebron Fire Department responded to the scene. Divers didn't find anyone else in the submerged car, which was located by sonar. The vehicle was removed from the water overnight.
The unidentified driver – reports stated the person was 19-years-old – was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. There is no update on his condition.
