Indiana Excise Police found this liquor still in a Batesville home Monday.
(Batesville, Ind.) - Although Batesville is not featured on the Discovery Channel’s hit show “Moonshiners”, it was the scene of a raid by Indiana Excise Police officers Monday.
Officers seized a still and other equipment used to distill alcohol, including a whiskey barrel which was believed to hold liquor inside, during a search conducted at 129 Hillenbrand Avenue in Batesville. Books and manuals describing how to manufacture liquor were also found during the raid.
The manufacturing of liquor is a Class C felony in Indiana, which may also carry felony charges as well.
While excise officers have the authority to enforce any state law, they focus primarily on alcohol, tobacco and related laws.
Anyone with information on unlawful liquor manufacturing can provide an anonymous tip to the Indiana Excise Police at (812) 523-8314.
