Press release from Dearborn County Traffic Safety Partnership
(Aurora, Ind.) - Officers from the Dearborn County Traffic Safety Partnership will be conducting a sobriety check point at an undisclosed location in Dearborn County from 11:00 p.m.-3:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013. Those drivers passing through the checkpoint area should have their licenses and registrations ready to present to officers and will only be detained briefly while officers determine whether further investigation is necessary.
The Dearborn County Traffic Safety Partnership selects check point times and locations based upon statistical data derived from DUI arrest records and crash records. Please help make Indiana Roadways safer by observing the following tips:
• Plan ahead and always use a designated driver
• Don't operate a vehicle if you've been consuming alcoholic beverages; instead call a taxi, a family member, or friend who has not been drinking to give you a ride.
• If you are hosting a party, always offer non-alcoholic beverages and make sure all of your guests leave with a sober driver or allow them to spend the night.
• Remember, Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk. Take the keys and never let a friend leave your sight if you think they are about to drive while impaired.
Anyone observing erratic driving should contact the police immediately and be prepared to give detailed description of the vehicle, its location, and direction of travel. Callers can remain anonymous.
