(Osgood, Ind.) - An Osgood man is in the Ripley County Jail accused of possessing marijuana and cocaine.
A Ripley County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle for a equipment violation at U.S. 50 and U.S. 421 in Versailles in the early morning hours of August 1. A records check of the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Shaine C. Edwards, showed that he had a suspended license. The deputy had Edwards’ vehicle impounded.
During the stop, the deputy found that Edwards, 26, was in possession marijuana, methadone tablets, and a white powdered substance which later tested presumptive positive for cocaine.
Edwards was transported to the Ripley County Jail and booked for Possession of Cocaine (Class D felony), Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Class D felony), and Possession of Marijuana (Class A misdemeanor).
The sheriff’s office noted that the case remains under investigation as of Monday.
