(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Using illegal drugs is usually not a good idea, especially when driving.
David J. Poindexter, of Lawrenceburg, did not get away with allegedly committing such a crime thanks to a heads-up citizen.
According to court documents, on June 10 a motorist called police when while driving on U.S. 50 in Greendale they noticed another driver was holding a glass pipe up to his mouth.
Lawrenceburg Police soon spotted the vehicle driven by Poindexter, 43, turning off of U.S. 50 onto Front Street and initiated a stop.
A subsequent search of Poindexter’s car turned up the pipe, marijuana, and weighing scales.
At one point during the stop, Poindexter ran from police to his car. Officers allegedly witnessed Poindexter quickly put something in his mouth. The officers eventually forced him to spit out the substance which was determined to be marijuana.
Poindexter is now charged with Driving While Suspended, Possession of Marijuana, Paraphernalia, Resisting Law Enforcement, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, and Obstruction of Justice.
