(Indianapolis, Ind.) - State officials say they're ready to handle an expected swell in jobless claims next week.
Roughly 80,000 Hoosiers are eligible to apply for extended federal jobless benefits now that the payments have been restored by Congress and President Obama after they ran out in early June.
Marc Lotter, a spokesman for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, said the system is ready to go.
People can start filing to have the benefit reinstated on Tuesday, Aug. 3, but Lotter advises those collecting unemployment to log on to the state's website to be sure they have all the information needed. See the link below.
The state's 27 full-service WorkOne Centers will be open extra hours next week to deal with an expected increase in claims.
