(Boone County, Ky.) - The Boone County engineer and leader of the County Public Works Department has been suspended without pay pending an investigation.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports that Greg Sketch, 57, has been suspended for actions related to the improper use of funds from the sale of scrap metal. He is facing possible administrative charges which could eventually lead to his firing.
Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore did not comment to the Enquirer on the matter regarding Sketch. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth Attorney’s Office are conducting a separate investigation, sheriff’s office spokesman Tom Scheben told the newspaper.
Sketch has been the Boone County Director of Public Works and county engineer since 1994.
If the report’s allegations are true, it won’t be the first time in recent history that a Boone County official has gotten in trouble for their handling of the county’s scrap metal. Former Walton mayor and resigned general manager of the Boone County Water District, Phil Trzop, was charged with Abuse of Public Trust last year for allegedly selling county scrap metal and keeping some of the funds.
